Bower, 2014

Plaster, pigment, found lamp shade, branches, garden netting, recycled polystyrene packaging and plastic bottle, threads, metal rod, plexi mirror and cotton rag.

36 x 25 x 13 in.

Bower was created during my one and half years living in the Yorkshire countryside in the UK. A lamp shade found on the street is embedded into plaster, in which many thin branches are arranged in a bower (Bower birds build elaborate structures, so-called bowers, out of leaves, sticks and everything else they can find).
A mirror is positioned behind the bower to create a double image, while also reflecting the painted inside stucture of the lamp shade.
